$4.6 MILLION FOR SEVEN YEAR ITCH SUBWAY DRESS

I just watched the Debbie Reynolds auction live online. Marilyn Monroe's memorabilia were the highest auctioned items, with the Seven Year Itch white "Subway Dress" selling at $4.6 million ($1 million starting price).

I'm not sure who the winning bidder is, but I hope the dress is put into a museum for fans to adore for years to come.

Other high-selling Marilyn items include:
"Little Rock" dress from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: $1.2 million
River of No Return saloon dress: $510,000
"Heat Wave" dress from There's No Business Like Show Business: $500,00

Check out the screen captures and other items that hit the auction on my Marilyn Monroe fan page.

SAVE THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH DRESS

SaveTheDress.org is a campaign accepting donations to help save Marilyn Monroe's iconic Seven Year Itch dress and put it on permanent display in New York, where it belongs.

The campaign is endorsed by Travilla, (William Travilla's estate) the designer behind the Seven Year Itch dress.

I would love to have the dress on display for the fans and the world to see. I believe it belongs in New York and I think Marilyn would appreciate it, considering her love for New York.

In honor of Marilyn's 85th birthday (June 1st), think about making a donation you're comfortable with towards SaveTheDress.org. The campaign needs to make enough money by June 18th.

SUPER RARE NORMA JEANE AUTOGRAPH

AuctionBytes.com:

WhatSellsBest.com, a website tracking rare auction items selling on eBay, is reporting bids have passed $10,000 on day five of a ten day auction, for an extremely rare teenage autograph by the actress Marilyn Monroe.

The autograph, with a personal message penned by the then 15 year old 'Norma Jeane Baker' (later to become Marilyn Monroe) is on the back of a black & white panoramic photograph featuring the 1941 graduating class of Ralph Waldo Emerson Junior High School. The sellers listing states the autograph; "may be the earliest example of a Marilyn Monroe signature known to exist."
According to James Massey, publisher of WhatSellsBest.com; "authenticated celebrity autographs linked to the early years of an iconic stars life, (like Marilyn Monroe) can among the most sought-after by collectors. Generally, the earlier the autograph, the rarer it may be, because celebrities just don't sign many items before the public knows who they are."

A black cocktail dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in 1958 was up for auction at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills yesterday. The dress was expected to be sold between $20,000 to $30,000 but the final price ended at $348,000, which is a record-breaking amount for the auction house.

The dress was a part of the Hollywood Legends auction, which ran from May 7th to May 8th. Marilyn's swimsuit was also up for auction with a winning bid coming to $84,000 and Audrey Hepburn's straw hat from Funny Face went for $15,350. Elizabeth Taylor's throne in Cleopatra sold for $7,040.

MARIAH CAREY NAMES HER BABY GIRL AFTER MARILYN

Mariah Carey gave birth to twin babies last weekend (a boy and a girl).

She named her baby boy Morrocan Scott Cannon (?) and her baby girl Monroe Cannon.

Mariah has been a long-time Marilyn Monroe fan, so it's no question that her baby girl was named after the screen legend.

Can't wait to see photos!

MEGAN FOX'S MARILYN TATTOO BEING REMOVED?

Megan Fox's Marilyn Monroe tattoo (a portrait of the late actress on Fox's inner right forearm), seems to be disappearing before our eyes.

Recent photos show Fox's tattoo is clearly fading, indicating at least one tattoo removal treatment. Not many people have ever had anything good to say about the tattoo and I'm sure makeup artists will be happy to not have to spend time covering it up on movie sets.

Comparison shots of Megan's tattoos

Fox has been quoted saying, "I really admire Marilyn Monroe, but I would never try to emulate her. I got the tattoo as a warning. It warns me not to let myself be treated so badly by the film industry so that it breaks me down."

Guess she no longer needs the reminder.
